December 8, 2008

Taiwan, an island bigger than Singapore, about the size of Madagascar, it’s capital Taipei is where the world’s tallest skyscraper- Taipei 101 is located. For many years, Taiwan has been struggling to be recognized as a country, but also for many years, the world has been mistakenly considering Taiwan a province of China. You would be surprised by the insistent endeavor of Taiwan trying make a noise in the world. For example, over years, Taiwan has done its utmost to become a member of the UN, but the polotical influence of China has always been an obstacle.Putting its thorny political situation aside. Taiwan once created an ” economic miracle” that aroused the admiration of the world, and now their 3C products are sold throughout the globe. For this reason, the impression of Taiwan in the minds of all too many people is that of a technologically advanced ” industrial island” or ” island of technology.” The truth is, however, Taiwan is an island nutures a wide array of tourism and ecological resources, a diversity of traditional folk customs, a rich culture, modern arts, and fantastic food. You might have never known that Taiwan was first known to the West as Ilha Formosa, or Beautiful Island, and resut assure with good reason!
Personally what charms the world more is I would say its friendly people. You would find people greeting you when walking on the streets. ” Hi, welcome to Taiwan!” You would hear people say this to you with bright smile quite often. Be it old or young people, male or female. But I must warn you, to be really careful of your stay in Taiwan, with its richness in every possible way, you may have problem leaving this lovely island, and wide up living here for good.
